It’s usually better than you think
Most people who come to us have been putting it off because they expect the worst. Here’s what we usually find.
You may be owed money
If taxes were withheld from your pay, you may have refunds waiting. Refunds can generally be claimed for about the last three years, so the sooner you file, the more you keep.
The IRS’s numbers are often too high
If you don’t file, the IRS may prepare a “substitute return” from what employers and banks reported. It leaves out your deductions, dependents, and expenses. Filing your own return usually lowers the bill.
You don’t need your old paperwork
With your permission, we get your income records directly from the IRS and see exactly what they have on file, year by year.
You probably don’t need to go back forever
The IRS generally looks for the most recent six years to consider you back in compliance. We’ll tell you which years you actually need.
How it works
Call for a free consultation
Tell us what’s going on: how many years, any IRS or Colorado letters. There’s no cost and no obligation.
We find out where you stand
We pull your IRS records and review any notices, so you know what you’re facing before you decide anything.
We file and set up a plan
We prepare the federal and Colorado returns and, if you owe, help you set up a payment plan you can manage.
What we handle
- Several years of unfiled returns
- Federal and Colorado returns, plus other states
- Replacing IRS “substitute” returns
- IRS and Colorado letters and notices
- Payment plans for balances you owe
- Liens, levies, and collection notices
- IRS audits and return corrections
- Rebuilding missing business records
- Self-employed and 1099 contractor income
- Rental and small-business returns
Every return we prepare is reviewed and signed by an Enrolled Agent, a tax professional licensed by the U.S. Treasury to represent taxpayers before the IRS. For large balances or complex collection cases, we work with experienced tax attorneys.

I did not file my taxes for last year till now and was freaking out about the IRS coming after me. … I got it done and I paid lesser than I imagined.

Common questions
I don’t have my W-2s or 1099s. Can you still help?
Yes. With your authorization we request your wage and income records from the IRS. If you had business income or expenses, we’ll help you reconstruct what’s missing from bank statements and other records.
How far back do I need to file?
Usually the most recent six years, though it depends on your situation. Refunds are generally available only for about the last three years, so it pays to act soon.
What if I can’t pay what I owe?
File anyway. The penalty for not filing is much larger than the penalty for not paying. Most people can set up an IRS payment plan, and we’ll help you with it.
Will filing get me in trouble?
Coming forward on your own is almost always better than waiting for the IRS to act. The goal is to get you current and stop the letters.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. We’ll talk through your situation and what it would take to get you current, with no cost and no obligation.
