Fifteen filing seasons, the same person answering the phone
Charles Trautman founded Tax Shop in 2010. He's still the one who prepares your return, not a name on the door with a rotating cast behind it.
An Enrolled Agent, federally licensed
Charles Trautman is an IRS Enrolled Agent, a federal credential earned by exam and maintained through continuing education, not a title anyone can print on a business card. It carries a specific power most tax preparers don't have: the authority to represent any taxpayer before the IRS, in any state, on any matter.
That authority is the part that matters when a return stops being routine. Audits, collections notices, and the kind of IRS correspondence that makes people nervous to open the mail are all things he can handle directly with the IRS rather than coaching you through from the sidelines.

Built on referrals, because the work has to hold up on its own
Tax Shop has never really run advertising. Clients arrived because someone else who'd already been through a return, an audit, or a messy catch-up filing told them to call. That only works if the work itself is good enough to talk about, season after season.
A lot of the people Chuck files for now have been coming back for ten years or more. The practice holds a 4.7-star rating across 48 Google reviews and an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, the kind of proof that only accumulates slowly, one filed return at a time.
In their own words
I have known Charles Trautman for over 20 years and as my tax preparer for 5+ years. He has always been professional and answered my questions and concerns.
Working with Chuck and his team for over 10 years. The best.
One office, in Lone Tree
Tax Shop works out of a single office at 9233 Park Meadows Drive, Suite 202, in the Panera Bread building at C-470 and Yosemite. There's no second location and no franchise behind the name; everything runs through that one address and the secure portal that connects to it.
The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00am to 4:00pm, Friday until 2:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. In tax season, January through April, Chuck often takes appointments outside those hours; the rest of the year a call or email gets a real answer, usually from him directly.
