Tax Shop Tax Shop Charles Trautman, EA · Lone Tree

Areas served across the south Denver metro

One office in Lone Tree, clients across Douglas, Arapahoe, and Jefferson counties. Documents go up through a secure portal and the rest happens by phone, so the address rarely gets in the way.

Does it matter where your preparer sits?

For the return itself, no. Federal and Colorado returns are prepared and e-filed the same way whether the preparer is ten minutes away or across the metro, and most clients here send documents through the secure upload and handle everything else by phone. Nobody sits in traffic to hand over a folder.

What does matter is whether the preparer knows what your particular situation generates. Colorado is full of home rule municipalities that collect their own sales tax and license businesses themselves, which is why a contractor in Parker, one in Castle Rock, and one in Highlands Ranch face three different sets of obligations for identical work. Add metro district property tax in the newer subdivisions, Denver's Occupational Privilege Tax for anybody commuting in, and mailing addresses that name the wrong city entirely, and local knowledge stops being a marketing line.

Charles Trautman is an Enrolled Agent, federally licensed by the IRS to represent taxpayers, and has been preparing returns from this office since 2010. The services page covers what that includes.
